Reader's guide

Let there be light!

How to account for such an audiovisual odyssey without losing oneself? This is the question to which the present gallery is designed to provide a matrix of answers, by virtualizing the journey introduced in the first three (linguistic) sections of this website, so as to emphasize the cognitive scaffolding effect elaborated by working memory throughout the (permanent) information selection process, considering that our subconscious is constantly on the watch.

Visual Libraries

Description:
Start with setting up an inventory of your visual memories. In the following showcase study for example, the visual elements refer to photos and images from my private collections and/or the internet, which I compiled into chronological photo albums, as they assemble into mnemonic reels.

Source formats containing such visual elements:
  1. Your imagination,
  2. Photographies,
  3. Graphic depictions of all sorts,
  4. Packaging of audio contents,
  5. Music videos and movie trailers,
  6. Website contents.
Audio Libraries

Description:
Take the effects of censorship into account, as audio contents alone will engage your imagination much more than the music videos thereto. In the present showcase example, the audio elements refer to narrative and musical soundtracks compiled into playlists, which link back to content hosted on platforms such as YouTube for partial or complete consultation (i.e. with or without the official music video, which is not always available).

Format for quoting audio items:
  1. Song title, full name of the artist, year of release,
  2. Listen (radio memories) and/or watch (TV or screen memories),
  3. Whereby part 1 redirects to Qwant search results, and part 2 to the music video.
Video Libraries

Description:
Do not forget that a movie release is often preceded or accompanied by the official soundtrack thereto. The video elements refer to TV shows and movie trailers hosted on platforms such as IMDb, Video Detective and YouTube.

Format for quoting such video items:
  1. Movie title, full name of the director, year of release,
  2. Watch the official movie trailer [name of the web hosting platform],
  3. Whereby part 1 redirects to Qwant search results, and part 2 to the trailer.
Multimedia Libraries

Proceed along the following rationale:
  1. Select (discriminate),
  2. Process (make sense of it),
  3. Integrate (take it or leave it),
  4. Archive (consolidate),
  5. Recycle (transform).
In order to spare yourself the trouble of having to update URLs
…without surrendering your right to quote with a view to informing, you can also adopt the following format to share your playlists:

  1. Title of work, name of author(s), year of release or publication,
  2. Highlight text > Right-click > Search with [engine of your choice],
  3. Which is less engaging for the audience, as it requires more clicks.
